EO

This weekend was quite relaxing and fun. Isaac and I hung low and didn’t do any traveling, but we did do a little shopping and decorating.
I made a center piece for the coffee table that I had been dreaming about ever since seeing something similar at Anthropologie.

Thanksgiving

I’m not the world’s biggest fan of turkey. I am not sure how many people actually love stuffing, sweet potatoes, and green bean casseroles without the nostalgia attached to Thanksgiving. With only two this year, I decided to do something we’d really like than stick with tradition.

I’ll start with the star: some prime ribs of [...]

Brown Butter Ice Cream

All righty, now. We are in the season of eating, even though there is very little left in the field, and of setting out lights to protest the elongating darkness. So, when my friend John told me that his world had been rocked due to the discovery of …

This year for Thanksgiving, I decided to try something different. After doing some research in cookbooks and online, I wanted to take a chance on grilling a turkey. I have grilled pretty much every cut of meat known to man, except a turkey.COMING SOO…

Vinegar Glossed Chicken

This recipe, like the Pumpkin Flan recipe, is from Lucinda Scala Quinn’s book Mad Hungry: Feeding Men & Boys. Now, unlike Quinn, I am not feeding a Hubby and 3 boys/men, just a Hubby, so I cut this recipe down for us.This was super easy, not to men…

1 small knob of ginger (peeled)
ground cinnamon, to taste

Put oranges, carrots and ginger through a juicer. Sprinkle with cinnamon, stir and enjoy!

Caramel Pecan Pie

This pie is to die for!!! I love pecan pie. Any kind. And I have tried many. This is probably the best I have ever tasted though (even when considering those that I have had at great restaurants). I have made this the past 3 years for Thanksgiving…

Baked Oyster Dressing

I’m not a big fan of oysters. The only way I can eat them is if they are small and fried. And even then sometimes I just can’t stomach them. But, Hubby and Mama and Dad love them. To say the least. So in addition to the Apple & Onion Stuffin Muffin…

Happy Tofurkey Day

Although our plans changed at the last minute we ended up having a great Thanksgiving Day after all.
Last night after realizing that we probably shouldn’t risk getting Isaac’s grandparents sick, I asked Isaac what dish that he was most disappointed about missing out on (since we weren’t going to this family’s dinner) and without hesitation [...]
